Man City, Arsenal linked to Real Madrid’s Martin Odegaard

Manchester City and Arsenal are said to both be keen on signing Martin Odegaard – currently on loan at Real Sociedad from Real Madrid.

The report in El Desmarque outlines the interest from the England clubs in the Norwegian international, who has impressed at the Anoeta so far this campaign.

The piece writes that a bid of €75m would be required to land the playmaker, with City and Arsenal looking to replace David Silva and Mesut Ozil respectively.

The Norway international has starred in the opening weeks of the campaign for La Real after joining them on a two-year loan deal from Los Blancos.

He has spent the last two seasons out on loan, at Heerenveen and Vitesse respectively, before joining the Basque club at the start of the season.

A fresh report in Diario AS claims the 20-year-old is earning €2m annually with Real Sociedad – his full salary – but the Madrid club can recall him after just one season should they so wish.

It is said that should the capital club wish to recall Odegaard from his loan spell at the Anoeta, they would have to pay the Basque club a €2m compensation package.

Odegaard has scored twice and provided an assist in his first seven league games for La Real and he is said to be very happy with the club.
