Manchester United have made goalkeeper David De Gea a contract offer that would make him the best paid player in England, say reports.
Marca cite a report from The Times which claims that the shot-stopper would earn a net salary of €15m per season and would subsequently become the best paid player in the league.
The Spaniard’s form has nosedived over the past 18 months and he has lost his number one spot as the international goalkeeper to Chelsea counterpart Kepa Arrizabalaga.
There have been question marks over his future at the Red Devils with his contract expiring in June 2020 and making multiple errors in recent matches.
However, it now appears to be looking increasingly likely that the former Atletico Madrid goalkeeper will remain at Old Trafford beyond the current campaign – and earn a bumper pay increase in the process.
De Gea has been a regular at the Red Devils since his €20m summer switch in 2011.
