Real Betis boss Rubi insists neither he nor the club would hesitate in offering a contract renewal for their inspirational captain Joaquin.
The veteran winger celebrated his 38th birthday in July and has made a grand total of 769 club appearances across his career, alongside winning 51 caps for Spain.
He has made 126 La Liga appearances since returning to his boyhood club Betis from Fiorentina in 2015 and is sixth on the all-time appearances record for the competition – 104 shy of the number one spot.
“The great news is that he says he is well and we can all see that,” Rubi told reporters, in quotes cited by Diario AS.
“That enthusiasm and motivation to come to train every day is the most difficult to maintain. When he is on the field, he is differential. That will be decided by him.
“If he wants to stay then he will, I would have no doubt. It's not easy to find players like him.”
