Zinedine Zidane dismisses claims of James Rodriguez rift

Zinedine Zidane has rubbished claims of a potential bust up with James Rodriguez.

The French manager handed Rodriguez his first start for Los Blancos since 2017, despite speculation linking him with a summer move away from the Spanish capital.

The Colombian international was substituted with 15 minutes to go, and he appeared irritated with the decision, however Zidane was quick to quell talk of a row.

"I was very satisfied with James' performance today.

"He was upset when he came off, which is understandable.

"However, there is no more to it than frustration from him."

Real Madrid opening the scoring in the 81st minute, through Karim Benzema, however they conceded a late equaliser to draw 1-1 with Real Valladolid, and Zidane was left annoyed by the late capitulation.

"We cannot be happy with how the game ended.

"To concede a goal so late on, after scoring so late ourselves, is not acceptable.

"The goal was our fault, and we were not well organised to defend it."
