Real Sociedad are very close to signing Arsenal defender Nacho Monreal, according to a report in Noticias de Gipuzkoa.
The 33-year old is out of contract in North London at the end of the current campaign and is likely to find his first team opportunities further limited following the arrival of Scotland international Kieran Tierney.
The experienced defender joined the Gunners from Malaga in January 2013 and has gone on to make 250 first-team appearances for the club
La Real shared left-back duties last season between Theo Hernandez and Kevin Rodrigues, but the former has since left the club and joined Milan in a permanent deal from Real Madrid.
The Spanish international made over 200 appearances during spells with Osasuna and Malaga between 2006 and 2013.
Previous reports had linked Monreal, who has been capped 22 times for the Spanish national team, with a move to Barcelona who have subsequently signed Junior Firpo from Real Betis.
Monreal, whose wife is from San Sebastian, sees in Real the perfect option to return to Spain and wants to push through a move.
