Zinedine Zidane confirms Gareth Bale will stay at Real Madrid

Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane has confirmed that Gareth Bale will remain at the club.

Zidane stated during Los Blancos' pre-season campaign that the club were looking to sell the former Tottenham midfielder, however no move materialised and he reinstated for their opening game of the 2019-20 La Liga season.

Bale set up Karim Benzema for Real Madrid's opening goal in their 3-1 win at Celta Vigo and Zidane confirmed the decision in his post-match press conference.

"Bale is staying.

"Everyone in the squad is positive and he is part of that.

"I always intended to start him today, regardless of the injury to Eden Hazard.

"What is important now is that we concentrate on the season ahead."

Bale was linked with a move to the Chinese Super League, however the Welsh international has consistently stated his preference to remain in the Spanish capital.
