Celta Vigo accepted a €10m offer from Aston Villa for winger Pione Sisto but the player rejected the chance of a move, report Marca.
The Danish international is said to have been offered a €1m annual salary – ‘a significant increase on his current income’, but the player had reservations about the move.
It is said that the winger will not be a regular in Celta’s line-up this season and they will be hopeful of selling him on before the end of August, even though the English transfer window has already shut.
Sisto arrived at Celta in a €6m deal from Danish side FC Midtjylland in the summer of 2016 and for this reason, the Galician club are disappointed they could not cash in on their profit with a theoretical sale to Villa.
It is also said that Celta are particularly keen to shift the player from their wage bill and secure a transfer fee due to their persistence in re-signing their former forward Nolito from Sevilla this summer window.
