Espanyol have completed the signing of defender Fernando Calero from Real Valladolid.
Calero has been a target for the Catalan side following the departure of Mario Hermoso to Atletico Madrid, and they confirmed the €8m deal via their official social media channels.
The 23-year old is a versatile defender, who played the majority of his football with Real Valladolid as a centre back – where he is expected to replace Hermoso – but he can also operate at full back.
He played a key role in Real Valladolid's promotion from the Segunda Division in 2018, before playing in 36 of their 38 La Liga games last season.
He has signed a five-year deal with David Gallego's Europa League side, with a new release clause set at €40m.
