Athletic Bilbao have confirmed that veteran striker Aritz Aduriz will retire at the end of the season.
The 36-year old is out of contract, and the Basque club has stated that following discussions with the player and his representatives that have reached the decision that he will bring an end to his professional career.
Aduriz has been a firm fans favourite following his return to the club in 2012, following two previous spells at San Mames, either side of playing at Burgos, Real Valladolid, Real Mallorca and Valencia.
The Bilbao-born front man spearheaded the club's best run of recent times, scoring 117 La Liga goals in 298 appearances ahead of the new season, and a Copa del Rey winners medal in 2015.
HIs impressive form with the club also saw him return to the Spain national team, with 12 caps between 2016 and 2017, and a place in Vicente Del Bosque's Euro 2016 squad.
