Luka Jovic returns to Real Madrid training

Real Madrid forward Luka Jovic has returned to pre-season training following an injury scare.

The Serbian international was withdrawn in the first half of Los Blancos 7-3 defeat to Atletico Madrid in the United States, and has not featured since after undergoing rehab with the club's medical staff.

There were initial concerns that he would miss the start of the La Liga season, with Real Madrid set to face Celta Vigo on August 17, however he has now been passed fit.

Gareth Bale, who missed the final game of pre-season, against Tottenham, also returned to training following a minor injury – despite reports continuing to link the Welsh international with a move away from the club.

Goal keeper Thibaut Courtois also returned from injury, with Casemiro, James Rodriguez and Eder Militao all stepping up their pre-season schedules following an extended break after the Copa America.

The only doubt for the trip to the Estadio Balaidos is over Ferland Mendy, with the summer signing struggling with a pre-season ankle injury – while midfielder Brahim Diaz is expected to be fit in time.
