Atletico Madrid midfielder Marcos Llorente ‘was not shocked’ by his new side beating Real Madrid 7-3 in a pre-season friendly.
The central midfielder swapped Los Blancos for Atleti this summer in a €40m deal, and was part of Diego Simeone’s side that stunned their city rivals in a friendly last week.
“We are happy. Madrid is a great club and we work one hundred percent. We are satisfied with the match, the result and the team's work,” Llorente said, as cited by Diario AS.
“Did the result shock me? No, I'm at Atlético, which is where I want to be. I am very happy for the team and my teammates. Now we go for more.
“We took the game seriously and it is reflected in the result. We have to be aware that it is a preseason game. We did what we have to do and we are happy.
“What if euphoria can be harmful to the team? We have to be aware that it is a preseason game, not La Liga or the Champions League. We did what we have to do and we are happy. Nothing else.”
