Milan want to sign Real Madrid’s Luka Modric this summer, but the midfielder is resistant to an exit, report Marca.
Milan’s city rivals Inter went through a protracted transfer saga last year in their attempt to sign Modric but a move away from the Santiago Bernabeu now looks to be increasingly unlikely.
There is set to be somewhat of a squad overhaul at Madrid this summer after a hugely disappointing campaign but no first-team starter from last season has yet departed.
A report in Marca last month claimed Modric was set to pen a new contract at Los Blancos to rule out an exit once and for all, but no official confirmation of this has materialised.
However, the Croatian midfielder has two years remaining on his current contract in the Spanish capital and reportedly does not want to exit.
It follows a report earlier this month in Cadena Cope which claimed Zinedine Zidane has personally informed the midfielder that he wants to be able to call on the Croatian beyond this summer.
