Gaku Shibasaki leaves Getafe for Deportivo la Coruna

Getafe have confirmed that midfielder Gaku Shibasaki has joined Deportivo la Coruna.

The deal, reported to be worth around €2m, sees the Japanese international leave the club, despite having two years left to run on his contract at the Coliseum Alfonso Perez.

The 27-year old signed for the side from South Madrid in 2017, following their promotion back into La Liga, joining from Segunda Division rivals Tenerife on a four-year deal.

However his time in the Spanish capital has not been a happy period in the former Kashima Antlers player's career, despite a positive start to life under Jose Bordalas.

He made 22 La Liga appearances in the 2017-18 campaign, however injuries and a drop in form destroyed his 2018-19 season, making just seven appearances as Getafe clinched a Europa League qualification spot.
