Valencia CF defender Jeison Murillo has completed for a reported fee of €15m.
Murillo, 27, who spent the 2018-19 season on loan at La Liga winners FC Barcelona was told at the end of the June that he was no longer part of manager Marcelino's first team plans.
Ernesto Valverde's side declined to take up their own purchase option on the Colombian international, and he had attracting interest from side in both Spain and Italy.
Neither club has confirmed details of the deal, and both parties are open to the possibility of Sampdoria paying an intial €2m for Murillo to sign on loan for the 2019-20 Serie A season.
The Italian side would then have a compulsory purchase option on the former Inter Milan centre back, of €13m, payable in June 2020.
