Real Sociedad have confirmed the loan signing of Real Madrid midfielder Martin Odegaard.
The Norwegian international joins Imanol Algucail's side on a season-long deal from the Santiago Bernabeu, ending weeks of speculation over his move to the Anoeta.
Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane confirmed at the end of the 2018-19 season that he would not be including the 20-year old in his first team plans for the 2019-20 campaign and that the club were open to offers on him.
Odegaard impressed on loan at Dutch side Vitesse last season, scoring 11 goals in 37 appearances – his best ever return in senior football – however Los Blancos have now opted to send him out on a fourth consecutive season-long loan deal – after spending two years at SC Heerenveen between 2015 and 2017.
Real Sociedad were reported to be keen on bringing the 20-year old to the club on a permanent deal, as interest intensified from clubs in the Netherlands, however Real Madrid declined that option, despite Odegaard's contract expiring in 2021.
