Julen Lopetegui wants Nacho Fernandez at Sevilla

Sevilla boss Julen Lopetegui wants to bring Real Madrid defender Nacho Fernandez to the club this summer.

Reports in Mundo Deportivo this weekend claim that Lopetegui wants to bring in the experienced centre back, who he has previously managed at both domestic and international level in the last 12 months.

Lopetegui's ill fated spell at Real Madrid at the start of the 2018-19 season, after he controversially left his role as head coach of the Spanish national team, did not dissuade Sevilla from appointing him as their new boss in June 2019.

Lopetegui is expected to oversee significant movement both in and out of the club in the coming weeks, with captain Simon Kjaer linked with an exit, and Nacho could be his replacement.

However, with two years still to run on his contract at the Santiago Bernabeu, and with Zinedine Zidane not open to selling him at this stage, Los Blancos could demand around €35m for the 28-year old.

If they are priced out of a move for Nacho, Sevilla could return to rival Atletico Madrid for the signature of want-away Espanyol defender Mario Hermoso in the coming weeks.
