Iago Aspas dreaming of Celta Vigo trophy

Iago Aspas has reiterated his desire to retire at Celta Vigo and is still dreaming of winning a trophy for the club.

The enigmatic forward is captain of his hometown club and helped them stave off relegation last season, while the club have reached two Copa del Rey semi-finals in recent years and in 2017, progressed to the Europa League semi-finals.

“Since I was a child they told me that I was a free soul, able to play in that position I wanted,” Aspas told an interview with Television de Galicia, as cited by Marca.

“Until the day of my retirement, I will try to get a title with Celta. It is true that when I was at Sevilla we won the Europa League, but then my role in the team was inferior to what I wanted to have.

“Thinking about the future, I would like to stay in football, either as a Coach or as a sports director – those are things that appeals to me.

“I have always said that I want Depor to be promoted and for them to be with us in La Liga, because they represent so much for Galician football and also because of the impact positive economic situation that Vigo and A Coruna receive.”
