Filipe Luis: My future will be decided after the Copa America

Atletico Madrid defender Filipe Luis has confirmed he will delay a decision on his future until after the 2019 Copa America.

Luis' contract at the Wanda Metropolitano expires at the end of June 2019, and he has already declined a one-year extension to remain in the Spanish capital.

He has been consistently linked with a shock move to La Liga champions FC Barcelona, as cover for first choice left back Jordi Alba.

"I am very happy with the year I have had with Atleti, he told an interview with Marca.

"We won the European Super Cup at the start of the season, and despite the Champions League disappointment, we finished second, and the team played well.

"What I say to everyone now, is that my future will be decided after the Copa America.

"Atleti is a team that will always be in my heart, and if I stay, or go, a decison will wait."

The 33-year old started in Brazil's opening group game, a 3-0 win over Bolivia, and he is expected to remain as first choice for Tite in the competition and he is firmly focused on winning a first Copa America title for La Selecao since 2007.

"Out of respect for the national team, I will not be negotiating anything during the competition.

"I will sit down with my representatives after it, and go from there."
