Inter ‘would swap Mauro Icardi for Alvaro Morata’

Inter would be willing to sell star striker Mauro Icardi to Atletico Madrid in exchange for Alvaro Morata, according to reports.

The Argentinian international has been the subject of interest from sides across Europe, and he is reported to have turned down a contract extension at the San Siro – with his current deal expiring in 2021.

New Nerazzurri boss Antonio Conte is reported to be keen to sell the striker, with a hugely fractured relationship between the player and the club.

Diario AS now cite a report in Corriere della Sera that the Milanese giants would be willing to sell the striker to Inter should they be able to bring Morata to the San Siro.

Diego Simeone reportedly wants an ‘elite striker’ to replace the outgoing Antoine Griezmann and Icardi, 26, would fit the bill although his market value is higher than that of Morata.

However, the deal would be complicated as Morata is in the midst of an 18-month loan deal at Los Rojiblancos from Chelsea.

Icardi has also been linked with a summer move to Real Madrid as an exit from Inter appears inevitable.
