Barcelona move for Wolfsburg defender Jerome Roussillon

Barcelona are considering a move for Wolfsburg defender Jerome Roussillon this summer, according to a report in El Mundo Deportivo.

The 26-year-old impressed for the Bundesliga club last season, making 31 appearances following a €8m switch from Montpellier the previous summer.

His level of performances have been widely praised in Germany and his contract runs through until the summer of 2023, but this has not derailed interest from the Blaugrana.

Arsenal, Manchester City, Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid had all previously been linked with a move for the Frenchman but this fresh report suggests Barca are also in the running for his signature.

He netted three goals and provided six assists for Wolfsburg this season but it is his pace and attacking threat which are said to be of particular interest to the Spanish champions.

Ernesto Valverde’s side are looking to add competition to long-term full-back Jordi Alba with a number of other names such as Filipe Luis linked with a summer move.

Roussillon made his Ligue 1 debut for Sochaux in the 2011/12 campaign.
