Manchester City sign Espanyol teen Oscar Tarensi

Manchester City have agreed to sign promising Espanyol youngster and Spanish youth international Oscar Tarensi, say Diario Sport.

The left-sided player – who is described at being equally adept both in midfielder and defence – celebrated his 16th birthday in January, which allows him to move elsewhere in Europe this summer.

The report claims that the Citizens will pay the Catalan club €300k for ‘one of the main jewels’ of their academy, who is tipped for a very bright future in the game.

He will follow the path of Barcelona youth players Eric Garcia and Adria Bernabe in moving to the English champions, while Arnau Puigmal recently left Espanyol to join Manchester United.

As the report highlights, Tarensi is the latest in a line of talented youngsters to leave the RCDE Stadium following Brian Peña, Raúl Moro and Txus Alba (all Barcelona) along with Pau Russo and Andry Gudjohnsen (Real Madrid).

The path of promising Spanish youngsters joining English clubs has been a growing trend in recent years.
