Real Madrid want to loan Martin Odegaard to Ajax on a two-year deal rather than a permanent move, according to reports.
The Spanish media cite a story from De Telegraaf that the Norwegian may have a future at Los Blancos but they want him to continue to develop elsewhere – having earned a reported €20m price tag.
The 20-year-old is currently on loan at Dutch club Vitesse Arnhem after previously making 43 first-team appearances on loan at Heerenveen.
The midfielder has impressed once again in the Eredivisie this campaign by netting eight goals and providing nine assists to help Vitesse into a top seven spot.
“I’m ready to take the next step. I want to keep growing as a player,” Odegaard told De Telegraaf, in quotes cited by Diario AS, earlier this month.
“My goal return and assists have increased and I think my performances have too, I am playing with more freedom and confidence.
“I want to finish the season strongly with Vitesse and then make a decision, but I am only 20 and I want to play in the Champions League.”
