POST MATCH: Barcelona one win away from La Liga title

Barcelona are just one win away from retaining their La Liga title, after they won 2-0 at Alaves on Tuesday night.

Two goals inside five second half minutes secured all three points for Ernesto Valverde's side, and they will be champions if the win at home to Levante – or Atletico Madrid fail to beat Valencia tomorrow.

The visitors started brightly, with Luis Suarez and Philippe Coutinho both denied by Alaves goal keeper Fernando Pacheco – as Abelardo's side held firm in defence.

Carles Alena netted his second La Liga goal on 53 minutes, slotting home after Suarez dummied Sergi Roberto's low cross into his path inside the area.

Suarez doubled their lead five minutes later, converting a penalty after VAR ruled a handball against Alaves midfielder Tomas Pina, for the Uruguayan's 21st La Liga goal of the season.

Valverde rested Lionel Messi and Jordi Alba for this clash, with both players coming on as second half substitutes, as the former Athletic Bilbao boss looks to plan for their Champions League semi final against Liverpool.
