Barcelona ‘offensive’ for Ajax defender Matthijs de Ligt

Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu will meet Ajax this week to discuss the future of defender Matthijs de Ligt, say El Mundo Deportivo.

The 19-year-old has been the captain of the Amsterdam-based club for over a year and has starred for club and country.

Widely regarded as one of the best upcoming talents in world football, the central defender is set to command a €75m fee from Ajax.

The meeting between the clubs is said to be scheduled on Monday because of the European Club Association (ECA), which is currently taking place in Amsterdam.

Bartomeu and CEO Oscar Grau are in the Netherlands and will reportedly head the Blaugrana position, with the club said to be keen on the highly-rated defender.

There have been separate reports that de Ligt’s agent, Mino Raiola is set to meet Juventus sporting director Fabio Paratici.
