Former Barcelona defender Javier Mascherano could leave China after 15 months as he wants a return to Argentinean football, report Diario Sport.
The 34-year-old joined Chinese Super League outfit Hebei China Fortune in January 2018 and while his deal runs until 2020, a clause exists that the contract can be terminated this year.
The report claims the former Blaugrana player wants to join Estudiantes La Plata in his native country and has no intention of remaining in the Far East.
Estudiantes are coached by Gabriel Milito, a former central defender who represented Barcelona during his playing career.
