Getafe boss Jose Bordalas: ‘No problem with Valencia’s Marcelino’

Getafe Coach Jose Bordalas insists he has ‘no problem’ with Valencia counterpart Marcelino ahead of this weekend’s crunch match.

The two clubs meet on Sunday afternoon in La Liga with each hopeful of a top four spot this season and a place in the Champions League next campaign.

A rivalry has developed between the two this year with ugly scenes after Valencia eliminated the Madrid-based team from the Copa del Rey quarter-finals in controversial circumstances in January.

“There is no problem between me and Marcelino,” Bordalas told Cadena Cope ahead of the weekend clash.

“If he says hello to me then I say hello, and vice versa, that is good manners. Beforehand I did not say hello because I had not left the dressing room, but there is no issue.

“This is another important match for us in terms of our objectives, there is recent history between the two clubs but this is not a war – we are fighting for the same targets.

“For us, being in fourth place is not normal but we are excited – we know there are 33 points still left to play for and there are a number of teams with more resources pressing us.

“I am very happy here at Getafe, all my energy is here and we have the opportunity for a great season – we are not aware of any other offers.”
