Real Madrid midfielder Martin Odegaard: “I’m not worth €20m”

Real Madrid midfielder Martin Odegaard has told reporters he is ‘not worth’ €20m after reports Ajax wanted to sign him for that amount.

The 20-year-old is currently on loan at Dutch club Vitesse Arnhem after previously making 43 first-team appearances on loan at Heerenveen.

The midfielder has impressed once again in the Eredivisie this campaign by netting five goals and providing six assists to help Vitesse into a top five spot.

“I do not think I’m worth that amount,” Odegaard is cited as saying by Marca.

“The amounts of money in football now are out of control.

“I have read the rumours but I have no idea if they are true or not.”

The Norwegian has featured in just two games for Madrid since joining in 2014 and is under contract until 2021, with reports claiming he would be keen on a permanent move to The Netherlands.
