Real Madrid plan for women’s football team

Cadena Ser report that Real Madrid have plans to start a women’s team to participate in the Spanish FA’s new women's football league.

Los Blancos have not had a women’s side since their foundation in 1902 and while the club have given the creation the green light, no date for their start has been finalised.

The new league is set to begin from next season onwards although it is unclear if Madrid will be represented in its inaugural season due to a lack of infrastructure and planning.

There is said to be a massive drive by the Spanish FA to ensure every professional club participates in the new setup, which plans for a 16-team top flight alongside a tiered system below.
