Juventus defender Leonardo Bonucci has revealed he opted to return to the club last summer ahead of a proposal from Real Madrid.
The 31-year-old Italian international returned to the Bianconeri from Milan – after spending one season at the Rossoneri – and is again a fundamental part of their defence.
“It made me proud and was a pleasure to have such a club asking for me, which means I'm doing a good job,” Bonucci told an interview with Diario AS.
“But in the end, the call from Juventus and my desire to feel at home again led my heart to feel that the Bianconeri had more to offer.”
Madrid are said to be monitoring a move for FC Porto defender Eder Militao while Sergio Ramos and Raphael Varane are the first-choice central defenders.
