Spanish Supercopa expanded to four teams

The Spanish Supercopa will undergo mass change from next season with four teams involved and games to be played abroad, the Spanish FA have confirmed.

The associaiton’s president Luis Rubiales has confirmed two semi-finals and a final will be played outside of Spain next season, with the top two in La Liga and both Copa del Rey finalists featuring.

“The next Supercopa will be played outside of Spain with a 'final four' format,” Rubiales told reporters on Tuesday.

Last season was the first in which the competition was played outside of Spain, with a two-legged tie reduced to just one match in Tangier, Morocco.

There is no indication of where the matches will be played next season, with the Spanish FA a critic of La Liga’s plans to move their games abroad.
