Radamel Falcao honoured in first return to Atletico Madrid

Atletico Madrid honoured former striker Radamel Falcao with a commemorative plaque upon his first return to the club.

The 32-year-old netted a remarkable 70 goals in 19 appearances for Atleti between 2011 and 2013 before joining Monaco in 2013.

Returning for the first time as a player on Wednesday night, Los Rojiblancos gifted him the plaque ahead of kick-off, where he poses with former teammate Diego Godin and club legend Adelardo Rodríguez.

Falcao won three titles while in the Spanish capital: the Europa League trophy in his first campaign before helping the club win the European Super Cup and Copa del Rey the following season.

Atleti won the game 2-0 to advance into the last 16 of the competition, while the Colombian striker was thwarted from the penalty spot.
