Milan ‘want to sign’ Atletico Madrid’s Diego Godin in summer

Milan are attempting to put in place a framework to sign Diego Godin when his Atletico Madrid contract expires in summer, say reports.

Italian outlet Corriere dello Sport say the 32-year-old is a prime target for the Rossoneri, under the behest of the club’s sporting director Leonardo.

The Uruguayan defender has been appointed captain following the exit of Gabi Fernandez and had been linked to Manchester United and Juventus, before summer reports in Spain said a new deal had been signed.

However, in August Godin cited ‘personal reasons’ as the circumstances for why he has not committed further to Los Rojiblancos.

Due to the defender possessing a Spanish passport, it facilitates his move to other European clubs.
