Real Madrid boss Julen Lopetegui: Being sacked ‘last thing on my mind’

Real Madrid boss Julen Lopetegui insists being sacked ‘is the last thing on my mind’ after Saturday’s 2-1 defeat to Levante.

“Right now, it’s the last thing on my mind,” the Coach said after the game.

“What I want is for the lads to get back up as soon as possible and prepare them for our next match in three days.

“Football depends on goals and we felt we did everything we had to do to score. We had many chances to do that. Strange things happened and that’s football.

“We attacked a lot and well, but that’s all we can do. We can only change the dynamic by winning matches. We had more than 30 attempts.

“I have more spirit than ever to keep going because the team left everything on the field. Sooner or later we’ll move forward.

“We know the injustice we were dealt, but all that remains is for us to change the dynamics. The dressing room was sad but also eager to raise their heads and focus on the next game.

“The team have given their lives and will give them to get out of this situation. No strange things happened with the referee. I only questioned the four minutes he added on at the end.

“I don’t explain things to convince people, only to tell them what happened.”
