Spain captain Sergio Ramos has described Jordi Alba, who has been omitted from the national team, as a ‘world class’ player.
The two are divided by the fierce Real Madrid and Barcelona rivalry but have played alongside each other for the national team for the past seven years.
However, Alba has not been included in either of the two La Roja squads by new Coach Luis Enrique, for whom he played under at the Camp Nou.
“Me and Jordi have played beside each other for many years so I know a lot about his style,” Ramos told reporters at his pre-match press conference.
“He is one of the best in the world and if you see his performances or see his data from each match, you can see this.
“The decision is only up to the Coach so our views are not relevant but in terms of the players, we would welcome him back at any moment.”
