Gareth Bale out for Wales, returns to Real Madrid

Gareth Bale will play no part for Wales against the Republic of Ireland on Tuesday and has returned to Real Madrid due to a groin injury.

The 29-year-old sustained the injury in last month’s Madrid derby and despite featuring in the recent 1-0 defeat against Alaves, has not been able to play in this international break.

“Gareth Bale has returned to his club this afternoon and will not travel to Dublin with the rest of the squad,” the Football Association of Wales wrote on Twitter.

Wales boss Ryan Giggs has downplayed the injury by stating that it was ‘not serious’ although Madrid fans will be concerned given Bale’s recurrent muscular problems.
