Luis Enrique: Spain are prepared for ‘any situation’

Luis Enrique says his Spain team are ‘prepared for any situation’ ahead of their Nations League encounter with England on Monday.

A point is virtually enough for Spain to qualify from their Nations League group, but Luis Enrique made it clear only four wins out of four ‘would do’.

“The draw won’t qualify us, only the win will do that and at a stadium like this we’re very excited about having a great game,” the Coach said at a Press conference.

“We’re only thinking about the victory, but let’s not forget that England are doing well. They’ve been playing with a back five but they’ve changed because they’ve had some injuries.

“We’re ready to play like we did at Wembley and look for the win by playing well. My players have arrived in very good conditions.

“You always think that everything will turn out well, and for that you work, but sometimes problems appear and the Coach has to manage them. We’re used to it.

“We’re prepared for any situation and I’ve adapted to the role, having a week with the players and then a lot of videos and travelling… I’m still new to it all, but I’m happy.

“This Spain team don’t resemble my Barcelona one in any way, but it’s not fair to compare them.

“I like Southgate because his team want to play football, even though it’s not in his country’s history.

“He adapts to his players. I like the way he expresses himself and the way he understands football. He’s also just renewed his contract, although I don’t wish him well tomorrow!

“England are good in the air and on the break. It’s very nice to visit Seville. These matches are always very special, with the support of the fans at 100 percent.

“It’s crucial for us. Seville has always been a mythical city. I’m clear on how we’ll attack tomorrow but not in the future.”
