Bayern Munich midfielder Thiago Alcantara insists Spain’s playing style ‘is still based on possession and territorial control’.
The former Barcelona player explained how there had been subtle changes with alterations in Coaches and players but the fundamental style remained the same.
“Spain’s style is still based on possession and territorial control,” Thiago is cited as telling reporters by Marca.
“It is not exactly the same through the years because the Coach has changed and many of the players have to, so it is normal.
“I like our style of play, it is normal not everyone agreed with this but I believe football based on controlling the ball is important.
“It (the game against Wales) is important because they have had a lot of success in recent times and pose a challenge for us, we must be focused.
“The events in Mallorca? Obviously this is something that we are all hugely sensitive to and saddened about, we would like to do anything we can for Sant Llorenc.
“Rafa (Nadal, the tennis star) led by example (in cleaning up) and we want to offer our support for the victims.”
