Luis Enrique: Spain were ‘almost perfect’

Luis Enrique hailed his Spain players for an ‘almost-perfect’ performance during Thursday’s 4-1 victory over Wales.

“I didn’t expect a start like this,” admitted the Coach after the game.

“I love that there are so many lads who can come with us. It’ll be increasingly difficult for players to enter the squad.

“Our attitude was almost perfect. They ran, pressed and worked hard from the first to last minute, showing they didn’t treat the game like a friendly or anything less.

“You have to be good enough to be called up. I think it’ll get more difficult for me to name my squad because, with five players injured, the lads will have to work even harder to be called up after seeing what the others have done.

“It would be very sad if we were left with only Alcacer’s performance. I think it was a very good performance from the whole team.

“It’s true that confidence is always important and more so for strikers, and I think he had a superb match, but also Morata and Suso, who won’t have stood out so much.

“Being on a roll is good for him and us. The match against England will be important, but we’ll face it n the best way possible, given it’ll be complicated.”
