Julen Lopetegui confident ‘Real Madrid goals will arrive’

Real Madrid Coach Julen Lopetegui is not concerned by his side’s recent goal drought: “The important thing is we are creating chances.”

Madrid were held to a scoreless draw by Atletico Madrid on Saturday night just days after they crashed to a 3-0 away defeat at Sevilla.

“The important thing is to create these chances and the goals will come,” Lopetegui told reporters, as cited by Diario AS.

“We deserved to win, because of the game, because of the character of the team and despite having less preparation time, we were far superior.

“We have had clear chances to win but we competed very well, I liked our phases of play and these are positives, we are not focusing on anything else.

“Bale’s injury? We are going to wait until tomorrow, he has a muscular discomfort and as a precaution we have decided to leave him to rest until then.

“Dani Ceballos was fantastic, the game was ready for him to come on and make an impact and he did that.

“When bringing on Vinicius I was looking for speed and energy upfront and he gave us that, we need to be patient with his development.

“Atletico are definitely title challengers, there are more than two teams capable of winning this title as recent results have shown.”
