Real Madrid boss Julen Lopetegui has ‘no complaints’ with his side’s loss to Sevilla, who ‘were a lot better than us and deserved their win’.
The European champions fell to a limp 3-0 defeat in Andalusia with an Andre Silva double and Wissam Ben Yedder strike sealing the game for the hosts.
“I can have no complaints, Sevilla were a lot better than us and deserved their win,” Lopetegui told reporters.
“To let in the quick goals in the manner we did made the game hugely difficult for us and whilst we matched them in the second half, we could not find the scoreboard.
“There was not much wrong with our performance after half-time but there was far too much to do and we were not clinical in front of goal.
“It means we now have to return to training and prepare for the next match, another big one (the Madrid derby). These things happen.
“Obviously, to have only three days to prepare is not ideal as this will be another game of maximum intensity that will be difficult for us.
“Marcelo’s injury? It appears he has a tear, but he isn’t sure yet. We will run tests tomorrow and evaluate the situation.
“The Best awards? It would be opportunistic to blame them for tonight, I was not there and I was not good here either!”
