Atletico Madrid were ‘taken aback’ by their slow start to La Liga after lifting the European Super Cup, midfielder Koke has admitted.
Los Rojiblancos were held to draws by Valencia and Eibar while they also fell to a 2-0 defeat to Celta Vigo but in the past week have recorded away wins at Monaco (Champions League) and Getafe.
“It (the start) has taken us aback somewhat, we did not expect it,” Koke told reporters, as cited by Marca.
“We set our aims and ambitions very high so it was a little unexpected, but we know all about hard work and knowing what it takes to overcome this.
“Now we are winning games, in the Champions League and La Liga, and we believe more results will come as we generate momentum.
“There are still many things we have to improve in our game but the important thing now is to get results and improvements will follow.”
