Iago Aspas: Juan Carlos Unzue ‘did not hit his ideas home’ at Celta Vigo

Celta Vigo forward Iago Aspas believes former Coach Juan Carlos Unzue ‘had some great ideas’ but struggled to ‘hit one hundred percent’.

The former Barcelona number two lasted just one season in the hotseat at the Galician side before being replaced by Antonio Mohamed this summer.

“Unzue had some great ideas last year but his message did not hit one hundred percent,” Aspas is cited as saying by El Desmarque.

“Antonio Mohamed is extremely hardworking but is also very talkative and approachable, he is very kind and this is important.

“Influential coaching figures for me? Eusebio Sacristan was very important and he gave me the opportunity while Paco Herrera treated me like a son, showing me lots of love.

“My struggles abroad? I feel like a home player, I thought at the time I had to go and try the opportunity but it did not go as I had planned, so I returned.

“Celta grew in the time I was away, it is a bigger club and now has greater potential.”
