Kepa eyes Spain number one spot

Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga is hoping to pip David De Gea to Luis Enrique’s first-choice goalkeeper for Spain.

Along with Real Betis shot-stopper Pau Lopez, the pair have been included in the first La Roja squad for the Coach with De Gea’s World Cup woes bringing his position under scrutiny.

“To be included in the Spain squad is an honour and brings lots of responsibility,” Kepa told an interview with Diario AS.

“The starting position is a question for the Coach, because all three of us are keen to play of course and in the training sessions we will all help each other.

“David De Gea is a great goalkeeper and has been fantastic for both his club and the national team, he is one of the best goalkeepers on the planet.

“I do not pay any attention to media talk or what may or may not happen, I focus on my own game and do not want any distractions.”
