Ronaldo ‘ready’ for Valladolid presidency

New Real Valladolid president Ronaldo Nazario is confident he can help lead the club to a bright future and consolidate their top-flight status.

The former Brazil international striker completed his takeover of the club in a €30m deal and now assumes the position at the head of the newly-promoted club.

“For me this is a very important day,” Ronaldo told reporters.

“I have gone through many stages and processes to prepare myself in recent years both in and out of football, and I am extremely proud to be here today.

“This new management direction will be defined by four words: competitiveness, transparency, revolution and social – we will count on Carlos Suarez (his predecessor) who will remain here.

“We want to consolidate this club at the top level and continue to build, but with unity both on and off the pitch I am convinced in these ideas.

“I want everyone to participate, whether you are a part of the club or just a fan, we want ideas, opinions, criticisms and hopes – everyone can play a part.”

Carlos Suarez noted: “The arrival of Ronaldo will put Real Valladolid on the map and allow us to make a leap in quality, we all welcome him to our home.”

The Brazilian had previously owned a stake in American side Fort Lauderdale Strikers before their dissolution in 2016.
