Aspas replaces Costa for Spain

Iago Aspas has been called into the Spain squad for upcoming games against England and Croatia following an injury to Diego Costa.

The Celta Vigo striker had been left out of Luis Enrique’s first 23-man Spain squad with Chelsea’s Alvaro Morata back in contention and Rodrigo Moreno of Valencia maintaining his spot.

The 31-year-old has scored six goals in 13 international appearances including a last-minute equaliser against Morocco in the World Cup this summer.

Aspas was the highest Spanish scorer in La Liga last season with 23 strikes in 37 appearances.
