Vidal: Madrid triumphs with no VAR

Barcelona midfielder Arturo Vidal has claimed Real Madrid would not have won the Champions League in the past two seasons had VAR been used.

Having arrived at the Camp Nou from Bayern Munich this summer, the Chilean claimed his former employers were undone by incorrect officiating decisions in their two recent knockout eliminations to Madrid.

“I want to win all the titles here, because they are all new to me,” Vidal told an interview with El Mundo Deportivo.

“The Champions League is the dream trophy for any player, but I have never won it, so it is a big ambition of mine.

“I know Barcelona have won it on recent occasions but I want to be part of that squad, part of that success and to have that achievement, that feeling.

“Perhaps I should have had them with Bayern and had VAR been used for our matches against Real Madrid, we would have won two Champions League titles in the past seasons.”

Madrid have won each of the past three Champions League titles and four in the past five seasons.
