Jose Bordalas rued his Getafe side ‘making it too easy’ for Real Madrid during Sunday’s 2-0 defeat in La Liga.
“It was a complicated game, but my feeling is that maybe we weren’t at the desired level of demand. We didn’t do what we’d set out,” the Coach said after the match.
“Nothing came off for us. They played very comfortably and we made it too easy for them.
“We set out not to let too many crosses into our box, but their first goal came from one. The second came from Djene losing the ball.
“I didn’t see the Getafe I wanted to see or the one from last season. Still, that doesn’t detract any credit from Madrid because they’re a great team.
“We knew it was going to be very complicated, but I insist: we didn’t play like I wanted us to. Things didn’t come off.
“We received too much punishment with the cards. It has not been so abrupt. We arrived late because we didn’t get close to our opponents. We made unnecessary mistakes.
“Having said that, you can lose here. You can’t compare Madrid with Getafe, given their power and stature.
“We didn’t play with the right sensations, but it’s only the first matchday and we’re already thinking about the second one so we can reverse this result.”
