Atletico Madrid have agreed to sign Celta Vigo defender Jonny Castro and a deal may be announced this weekend, say reports.
Marca and Diario AS both say a deal has been done for the defender, who has spent the entirety of his career at the Galician club but whose contract expires next season.
The 24-year-old may be immediately loaned out by Atleti, according to the reports, due to Los Rojiblancos being well stocked in the full-back areas.
Real Betis are thought to be interested in signing a left-sided defender to challenge Junior Firpo following the exit of Riza Durmisi to Lazio.
There have also been interest from English Premier League clubs with Leicester City reportedly seeing a move knocked back in January.
Comfortable playing either in the heart of right-hand side of the defence, Jonny has racked up over 200 appearances since graduating through Celta’s academy and was a mainstay of Spain’s successful Under-21 squad.
