New Real Madrid signing Alvaro Odriozola has explained new Coach Julen Lopetegui was key in persuading him to join the club.
The full-back joined the European champions in a €40m deal from Real Sociedad this summer and explained Lopetegui – who gave him his first Spain cap last season – was key in the deal.
“I have spoken with Julen Lopetegui and he has explained about having to give everything you have and how Madrid will have incredible demands,” Odriozola told reporters.
“I really like him as a Coach, he is a specialist at transmitting messages to the squad and he knows football inside out, he will be great for Madrid.
“I am not afraid of the challenge, I will give everything I have to play for this team and I have lots of respect for Dani Carvajal, who has been a role model for me.
“I could not have said no to Madrid, it was like when you were kid and were asked to go to Disneyland, you could not refuse.
“I am here to enjoy every moment and give my all to this challenge with hard work and humility.
“Ronaldo’s leaving? Everyone knows he is a legend but Madrid must now look to the future and hopefully I will play a part in that.”
