Real Oviedo have confirmed the signing of defender Carlos Martinez who played for Real Sociedad for nearly two decades.
The 32-year-old first joined the Basque club in 1999 and he has made over 200 first-team appearances, having come through the club’s B team.
However, his contract at La Real expired this summer and he has joined second tier Oviedo on a one-year contract, with an option for a further year.
Martinez made his first-team debut for the Basque club in 2007 and was instrumental in the club’s qualification for the Champions League six years later.
However, he has suffered continual muscle injuries in recent years and eventually left San Sebastian this summer.
